The Department of Neurosurgery has an opening for a full-time Instructor to become part of one of the emerging centers of excellence in neurosciences. The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive daily patient care of Pediatric Neurosurgery patients in the acute care and ambulatory settings at Children's Hospital Colorado. Responsibilities include: initial evaluation and ongoing care of Pediatric Neurosurgery patients, in collaboration with staff Neurosurgeons, on the inpatient unit, in clinic, and by phone. This program supports strong collaboration amongst the team of staff Neurosurgeons, Nurse Practitioners, fellows, and residents. In addition, this position will provide clinical support to the Craniofacial Program, consistent with the general description above.
Candidate must be able to take histories and perform physical exams including neurological examinations. Knowledge of specific diagnostic testing, such as radiology and laboratory testing is essential. Ability to provide education, support, and health care counseling to patients and their families. Ability to identify and care for patients and families with complex medical problems. Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with primary care providers, referring providers, and other neurosurgery team members. Must be able to interpret diagnostic tests, clinical exams, verbal communication, medical records and other sources to make decisions that are evidence based. Able to problem solve and apply critical thinking skills in regard to decision making. Able to work well with the medical team to provide the highest quality of care to neurosurgery patients and their families.
Salary and Benefits:

Must be currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority in the state of Colorado. Must be a graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a current Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification.
Experience with Pediatric Neurosurgery patient population desirable. Experience in a pediatric acute care setting preferred.
