_Nature of Work_

Providing psychotherapy (individual, couple/family, group) and other forms of psychological support to UCCS students; providing clinical supervision to Wellness Center Mental Health Services (WCMHS) trainees; providing campus-wide psychoeducation/outreach sessions on various relevant topics; and carrying out risk assessments and crisis interventions for UCCS students; and take the lead on submitting and managing grants, and data collection and analysis efforts to be able to assist in billing procedures, as well as inform service decisions for WCMHS.

_Supervision Received_

This position is supervised by the Director, Wellness Center Mental Health Services.

_Supervision Exercised_

This position does not exercise any administrative supervision of other positions; however the graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in training may receive clinical supervision from this position.

_Examples of Work Performed_

This position provides both clinical and non-clinical services. Clinical services entail clinical psychology and counseling services to UCCS students, whose personal/emotional life are interfering with their ability to perform academically. The aforementioned direct clinical services include:

  • Psychotherapy services in individual therapy, group therapy, couple therapy, and family therapy formats. Whenever clinically necessary, making appropriate referrals to on- and off-campus services and being available to contribute to case consultations with these agencies.

  • Assist WCMHS Director and the WCMHS Director of Clinical Training in developing and implementing data collection strategies to keep track of various service data to help with billing of non-Wellness Center units/agencies, provide project update reports to grantors, and help analyze the collected data to be able to inform service decisions based on outcomes information.

  • Responding to psychological crises/emergency calls to the WCMHS; be available to make assessments; and carry out crisis/emergency interventions.

  • Assist the WCMHS Director in authoring and submitting at least one grant proposal per academic year.

  • Whenever there are mandatory referrals from other offices in the university for services (i.e. education/outreach, counseling, and evaluations), providing the required support service and/or assisting other clinicians in carrying out the request at the Center as needed.

  • As WCMHS accepts graduate students and post-doctoral fellows from psychology and counseling programs from both UCCS and other schools, sharing the clinical supervision load of these students with other clinicians at the center. Regularly participate in supervision consultation and trainings.

  • Attend all staff meetings and administrative meetings that are related to position’s responsibilities.

  • Partake in the WCMHS staff’s efforts to organize and coordinate campus-wide education and prevention programs, and assist in efforts to address the developmental needs of the campus.

_Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities_

The following knowledge base and skills sets are critical for this position:

  1. Extensive knowledge about common psychological disorders (i.e. eating disorders, psychological trauma related disorders, substance abuse and dependence, mood and anxiety disorders, suicide and violence risks, psychotic disorders) and developmental and academic challenges of traditional, and non-traditional college students;

  2. Training and experience with short-term psychotherapy modalities in individual, group, couple, and family therapy formats;

  3. Training and experience with risk assessment and crisis intervention strategies;

  4. Training and experience with working with diverse populations;

  5. Training and experience with supervising graduate students who have various levels of education, training, and experience.

  6. Being able to prepare psychoeducational presentations that can speak to and address all the students, faculty and staff on a college campus;

  7. Demonstrated experience in research and grant-writing related tasks.

For the purposes of FLSA this position has been determined to be exempt from (not eligible for) overtime under FLSA.

_Salary Range_

$65,000-$70,000

_Minimum Requirements_

  • Active Colorado psychologist license or is eligible to obtain Colorado Psychologist license within 3 months of employment

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from an APA accredited academic program and having completed predoctoral internship in an APA accredited internship site

_Preferred Qualifications:_

  • Training and experience with psychological and neuropsychological assessments

  • Knowledge and experience in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders, and addictions

  • Experience with writing and/or implementation of grants

  • Fluent in Spanish and is able to provide clinical services to UCCS students in Spanish
