Temporary Academic Advisor
This temporary position serves as a member of CAM’s advising team. Job responsibilities include advising students in all three CAM departments, answering emails, assisting the professional advising staff in preparing/updating student advising files, performing basic transfer evaluations, performing routine degree audits, performing initial grad checks, facilitating advising appointments, providing drop-in advising hours, connecting students to the appropriate campus resources, collaborating on group advising, and providing a student perspective among the professional advising staff.
This temporary position is expected to work up to 40 hours per week and is anticipated to start in November 2017 and last approximately 6-9 months. Please note that the position will be to cover and continue efforts of a regular, full-time staff member who will be on extended leave. As such, the number of hours per week and/or total length of service may vary.
This position would allow the temporary advisor the opportunity to establish and enrich a professional skill set, including academic advising experience, improved interpersonal communication, enhancing their professional etiquette, and working with a diverse population of students.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with the following criteria:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Service, Counseling or related field; or equivalent professional experience
Experience in academic advising, student services, or work in a related field
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and be flexible
Strong customer service skills
Ability to work well with other team members
Positive attitude and desire to work in a student services setting
Knowledge of College of Arts & Media programs a bonus
Experience in a higher education setting
Salary and Benefits:
This position will be paid hourly and is not benefit eligible. The anticipated starting hourly rate is $22 with hours between 35-40 each week.
